About Me
I’ve spent more than 30 years in the lift and escalator industry, beginning as a young engineer and eventually serving as the first non-Japanese Managing Director for the Hitachi Elevator Group in Malaysia.
Along the way, I had the privilege of leading teams, shaping industry standards, and serving as President of the Malaysian Lift & Escalator Association. I also contributed to the Malaysian Standards development for elevators and escalators — work that continues to be one of my proudest responsibilities.
But beyond the technical achievements, what truly shaped me were the people I met, the teams I worked with, and the customers who trusted me. These relationships taught me lessons that no textbook or manual could provide.
Over the years, I found myself drawn to sharing these lessons — with engineers, managers, senior leaders, and young professionals. This passion eventually grew into my leadership seminars and my book, Build the Bridge First, a reflection of my belief that great leadership begins with connection, understanding, and trust.
Today, I continue to mentor, write, and share. My goal is simple:
Never stop learning and one of the best way to continue to learn and grow is to help others learn and grow too — both professionally and personally, so that they too become great leaders who will enrich the lives of the people around them.
“Leadership is the art of getting someone else to do something you want done because he wants to do it.”
-Dwight D. Eisenhower
