In September 2014, I had the opportunity to visit the beautiful village of Hallstatt in Salzkammergut Lake District of Austria. It is a truly breathtaking little village that is also a UNESCO heritage site.
We took a train from Salzburg and stopped at the little Hallstatt station across the lake from the village. There is a regular ferry that will take across to Hallstatt and it takes about 20 minutes to get across.
As the ferry heads towards the village you can get a truly beautiful view of the entire village from the lake and a really good photo taking opportunity.
Once you land and disembark, you will be mesmerized by the charm of this little village. We had a leisurely lunch in a quaint little restaurant right by the lakeside and after that spent a few wonderful hours just wondering around the village.
